Jonathan is an accomplished vocal coach. He is experienced in both opera and classical song repertoire, and has worked successfully with a large number of singers across a broad range of backgrounds, from those preparing for ABRSM examinations, to professional singers preparing for major operatic roles.

Vocal coaching is an essential part of a singer’s musical experience, during which one might seek to work on a range of musical aspects. Jonathan coaches from his home studio in Manchester both in-person and online and provides support in the following areas:

Throughout his musical career, Jonathan has always been inspired in his work with the human voice. As a recitalist he has performed alongside many distinguished professional singers such as Roderick Williams, Lynne Dawson, Rachel Nichols, Kathryn Rudge, Louise Winter, Sir John Tomlinson, and Paul Nilon. As rehearsal pianist Jonathan has worked with a number of high profile UK opera companies, choral societies, and professional orchestras, and has worked under conductors including Jac van Steen, Sir Mark Elder, Mark Shanahan, and Markus Stenz. Jonathan is an experienced audition accompanist having worked previously with companies including Opera North, British Youth Opera, Genesis The Sixteen, Wexford Festival Opera, and The Hallé. Jonathan also coaches regularly for the school of Vocal Studies and Opera at The Royal Northern College of Music. In addition, he is the Artistic Director of RNCM Day of Song and RNCM Songsters.
